Digital Education Project for Conflict-affected Children in Central Darfur State

Opening Doors to Learning: Electronic Education for Out‑of‑School Children

In the heart of Central Darfur, where conflict and displacement have disrupted the lives of thousands, a new chapter of hope is unfolding. With the support of UNICEF, NACP Organization has launched an electronic education project designed to reach children who have been left outside the formal school system.

The journey began in May 2025, when NACP worked closely with the State Ministry of Education to introduce the idea of electronic learning centers. The proposal was met with immediate enthusiasm. Education officials recognized that for many children in Umbro Locality and Abu Qumrah Area, traditional schooling was no longer possible. Technology offered a way to bridge the gap.

Soon after, NACP secured authorization to expand into Central Jebel Marra (Golo) and Northern Jebel Marra (Rokro). Surveys conducted with education authorities and humanitarian representatives identified 15 centers—eight in Golo and seven in Rokro. Each center was prepared to meet the required standards, ensuring that children would have safe and functional spaces to learn.

Recruitment was the next step. To strengthen community ownership, guides were selected from within the local population. After a transparent process, 15 guides were appointed, balancing gender representation and meeting essential qualifications. These guides became the backbone of the project, supporting children as they navigated new ways of learning.
